Description
An ileo-ileal intussusception led by a tumour some 3 cm. in diameter, brownish in colour, and
showing several nodular excrescences. The leading point appears to be ulcerated.
History
This man, at the age of 70, was found to have a carcinoma of the left lower lobe of the
lung, which was treated by radiotherapy. The following year he was admitted to hospital with
nausea, anorexia and vomiting; the following day he developed abdominal pain and vomited faecal
matter. He died three days after admission. At autopsy, the presence of a carcinoma of the lung
was confirmed, there were secondary deposits in the liver, and this lesion was demonstrated in the
ileum. Histologically, the present lesion is a secondary deposit from the carcinoma of the lung.
